community members, published by the American Indian College Fund.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Caring for Our Kin: Stories of Indigenous Environmental Stewardship<\/em> was created as part of the College Fund\u2019s Tiyata Wan Unkagapi (We Are Making a Home) Environmental Stewardship Program, which supports environmental science and natural resource programs at tribal colleges in the Northern Great Plains.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the College Fund, the program views stewardship as a multi-faceted activity, grounded in the family and community, that works to \u201cbuild capacity in environmental science and natural resource programs, land-based research, community engagement, and collaboration.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The seven Indigenous environmental leaders featured in the guidebook include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Adriann Killsnight He\u2019heen\u00f3hk\u00e1\u2019e (Blackbirdwoman) (Northern Cheyenne Nation), <\/strong>whoconducts research in wildlife management through her own consulting firm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Ayanna Maynard (Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe)<\/strong>, who designs student learning experiences for an NSF-funded agriculture technology initiative.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Foster Cournoyer Hogan (Rosebud Sioux Tribe), <\/strong>who is working to strengthen bison revitalization across tribal nations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Nick Hernandez (Oglala Sioux Tribe)<\/strong>, who is building Indigenous-led community systems around food and workforce development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Shaun Grassel (Lower Brule Sioux Tribe)<\/strong>, who leads a nonprofit focused on grassland restoration and wildlife conservation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Teri Harper (Cherokee Nation), <\/strong>who established an internship program within Aaniiih Nakoda College\u2019s Buffalo Research and Education Center.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Zach Ducheneaux (Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe), <\/strong>who designs investment models
